Irritable Bowel Syndrome Diet

1 in 5 people suffer from a disease called irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This condition is a disease that causes fatigue, chronic pain, diarrhoea, constipation, and stomach cramps. Although this disorder is not fatal and rarely requires hospitalization, IBS leads to sever anxiety and stress over irregular bowel moments. Often IBS can affect people lives drastically, causing them to cancel work, miss appointments, or even skip social events. Because there is no cure for IBS, you have to develop an irritable bowel syndrome diet to help mitigate the effects of IBS.

The main problem with irritable bowel syndrome is that the medical world is unsure what exactly causes it. Some doctors are believe that IBS is just a collection of symptoms that are caused from something else. It is possible that IBS is an immune system deficiency, which is caused by infection, bacterial pathogens or viral. These factors can affect the human brains communication with its digestive tract which can lead to the following symptoms. Because all the causes of irritable bowel syndrome are just speculation, there is no cure for IBS. The only think you can do for IBS is create an irritable bowel syndrome diet to help protect against the symptoms.

Depending on your symptoms of IBS, the diet you choose will vary from each person. Most dietary plans for IBS focus on choosing foods that you should avoid eating rather than choosing foods to eat.

You should avoid eating foods that are trigger foods that can cause an onset of imbalances in your GI tract or your intestinal/stomach tract.  Foods like alcohol and caffeine can especially cause acidic imbalances in your stomach.  Also avoid foods high in fat because they also increase the acidity levels in your stomach. 

If you are looking for foods that can help you with your IBS, you should focus on foods that are high in fibre.  Foods like raw vegetables, oatmeal, wholegrain breads, pastas, and cereal are good for people who suffer from constipation.  Also any kind of natural laxative that you may find such as prune juice can also help remove symptoms of IBS.

Controlling your irritable bowel syndrome is possible if you are willing to create a diet plan for you IBS.  The right irritable bowel syndrome diet plan should mainly focus on staying away from certain foods that lead to IBS.  Once you find a diet plan that works for you, you should focus on trying to maintain healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.  Even though you can’t cure IBS, you can certainly ensure that it stays at a manageable level.
